Our Short Term Exchanges (STEP) are a great way to learn a little bit more about other countries….. and probably a lot more about yourself!

  • host your exchange partner for 3 weeks or more in your own home
  • return with your partner to spend a similar time with their family in their home
  • tailor your time to make the most of your partner’s and your own  interests.
  • improve your language skills and make lasting friendships abroad

If you are between 15 and 19 years of age then a Rotary arranged STEP is a great opportunity to find out more about other cultures, to develop skills you’ll use for the rest of your life and to make international friends.

Remember your parents or guardians don’t have to be members of Rotary for you to take part in an exchange.

The UK and Ireland are very popular places and we will post requests for exchanges from young people like you in other countries as we receive them. If you don’t think that those making the request would be a good match with you, then don’t let this stop you registering your interest, we will be happy to look for a matching exchange partner for you.

Exchanges can be arranged with most countries, as long as they are certified by Rotary International as having the required welfare and safety standards to take part in the programme, but don’t leave it until the last moment – the earlier you apply the easier it is to find the right exchange partner for you with similar interests and in the country of your choice. Would you like to go somewhere a bit different? Check out some of the requests we have had for exchange this summer.

If you have any further questions check out How it Works and our FAQs page or Register your Interest now. Your Application will be sent to the Rotary Youth Exchange officer nearest to your home and s/he will get in touch. You could also go to Facebook where you will find many Youth Exchange sites belonging to Rotary Districts and past exchangers all over the world – they are always happy to tell you what a great time they had.
